Eight’s decided! Find out who are NPC’s bets for the 2019 senatorial race
Re-election senators, Davaoeño politikos and former senators eyeing a comeback will comprise the Nationalist People’s Coalition’s senatorial slate for the 2019 elections.
Ahead of the period for filing of certificates of candidacy, Politiko got the inside scoop on the politikos that NPC, led by businessman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. will endorse.
According to Politiko’s source, NPC’s senatorial slate will be led by re-electionist senators Grace Poe, JV Ejercito, Sonny Angara and Nancy Binay. Actor Lito Lapid and Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano, who used to be senators, are also assured of the party’s support.
Rounding up the initial list of senatorial bets to be endorsed by NPC are Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, who are both from Davao.
Aside from getting NPC’s endorsement, the eight politikos will also get the support of the Senate majority bloc.
Politiko earlier reported that the majority coalition has decided to endorse re-electionist senators allied with the administration, as well as select personalities who want to be in the Senate.
Senators who are not up for re-election will campaign for the bloc’s bets in their bailiwicks and join them in sorties, whenever possible.
Politiko’s source said NPC is still considering other names for inclusion in the list.
