Elago, 2 ex-lawmakers cleared of kidnapping raps by ‘gone’ girl
Alicia Lucena, 18, who was allegedly abducted by leftist groups, has cleared Kabataan paty-list Representative Sarah Elago and former party-list representatives Neri Colmenares of Bayan Muna and Tom Villarin of Akbayan of kidnapping.
Elago, Colmenares, Villarin are facing a criminal complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) that was filed by Alicia’s mother, Relisa.
Relisa, who previously testified in the Senate concerning leftist recruitment of minors, accused the respondents of Republic Act 10364 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003), RA 11188 (Special Protection of Children in Situations of Armed Conflict and Providing Penalties for Violations thereof), and RA 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
However, Alicia declared in her sworn statement that her mother has been lying.
“Hindi totoo at gawa-gawa lang niya ang mga paratang niyang ako raw ay kinidnap, ayaw pauwiin sa aming bahay at bine-brainwash ng mga kasama ko sa Anakbayan para maging isang NPA (New People’s Army),” read Alicia’s sworn statement that was submitted before the DOJ.
“Ang totoo, tumakas talaga ako sa poder ng aking mga magulang at nanaatiling kasapi ng Anakbayan dahil hindi ko na kaya ginagawa nilang pagmamalupit at pananakit sa akin (The truth is I ran away from home at joined Anakbayan because I can no longer tolerate the abuses and pain I have been experiencing),” she revealed.
