Enrile’s plunder trial to start in February
Though former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. already got acquitted, the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division has yet to begin the plunder trial of former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile concerning his involvement in the pork barrel scam.
The anti-graft court has set to begin the trial against Enrile on February 19, 2019.
Apart from graft, Enrile is also facing 15 counts of graft before the court also concerning the pork barrel scam.
Under the charges, Enrile is accused of having amassed P172 million in kickbacks from alleged pork barrel scam brains Janet Lim Napoles in exchange for choosing her non-government organizations (NGOs) to implement ghost projects funded by the former lawmaker’s pork barrel.
Last Dec. 7, the Sandiganbayan 1st Division issued a decision which acquitted Revilla of plunder concerning his involvement in the pork barrel scam.
Under the case, Revilla is accused of having amassed P224 million in kickbacks from Napoles, in exchange for choosing her NGOs to implement ghost projects funded by his pork barrel.
