Erap, Binay, other politikos pay tribute to spiritual adviser Fr. Larry Faraon: True servant of God
Politikos are mourning the death of Father Larry Faraon, a known Catholic media icon in the country.
Faraon, also a veteran radio anchor and a spiritual adviser of a number politikos, passed away Sunday. He was 64.
Among those who expressed grief and paid tribute to the priest are former President Joseph Estrada, former Vice President Jojo Binay, Senators Grace Poe and Bong Revilla, and former Senator JV Ejercito.
Estrada, former Manila mayor, said he is saddened by the passing of Faraon, calling him a “devoted servant” of the Lord.
“Ako po ay nalulungkot sa pagpanaw ng isang kaibigan, si Father Larry Faraon. Isang taong naging matapat na kaibigan ng aming pamilya at isang pari na puno ng dedikasiyon sa kanyang serbisyo. A devoted servant of the Lord. Rest in Peace Father Larry, mananatili ka sa aming mga puso,” Estrada wrote on Facebook.
Binay also took to Facebook to offer sympathies over the death of Faraon, saying he is also grateful for his spiritual guidance.
“My deepest condolence to the loved ones of Fr. Larry Faraon. His life was dedicated in service to the Lord and his flock and we thank Him for Fr. Larry’s work and spiritual guidance. My family and I are praying for his eternal rest,” the former veep said.
Poe is also grieving the death of Faraon, calling him a good friend.
“Nagluluksa ang aming pamilya sa pagpanaw ng isang mabuting kaibigan na si Fr. Larry Faraon. Mananatiling nasa puso namin ang kanyang mga aral at mainit na pakikisama. Dalangin namin ang kapayapaan ng kanyang kaluluwa. Salamat, Father Larry, sa makabuluhang buhay mo,” she said.
Revilla also described Faraon as a true servant of God. He said he drew strength from his spiritual adviser especially during his recent detention in Camp Crame.
“It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell sa isang tao na aking naging sandigan, lalo na noong panahon ng pagsubok sa aking buhay – Fr. Larry Faraon. Fr. Larry is a true servant of God who blessed me with the Holy Spirit, giving light in the darkest chapter of my life nung ako ay nasa Crame. He was my spiritual adviser at linggo-linggo siyang nagmimisa sa amin,” he said.
Revilla said it was Fr. Larry who gave the final sacrament to his father, the late Senator Ramon Revilla. “We will miss you Fr. Larry. God has called you to be by his side. Continue to watch over and pray for us in God’s glory and kingdom. Rest In Peace,” he said.
Ejercito also expressed sadness over the death of Faraon, saying he was a spiritual adviser and good friend. “So sad to hear of the passing of Fr. Larry Faraon. He is our spiritual adviser and a very good friend. So sudden,” he tweeted.

Faraon succumbed to pneumonia on Sunday morning at a hospital in Quezon City.
He served as program manager of Radio Veritas during the height of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. He was the host of Sunday radio program “Healing Touch” until his death.
