Can’t choose among Grace, Mar, Jojo: Erap to stay neutral in 2016
Former president and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has hinted that he might not support any presidential candidate in next year’s elections because he’s dissatisfied with the platforms presented by the three politikos who have declared their intention to become the next Chief Executive.
“Baka hindi, baka mag-endorse,” he said at the sidelines of the Makabayan group’s national convention in Malate, Manila on Wednesday (Sept. 30).
Estrada explained that he felt that neither among Senator Grace Poe, Vice President Jejomar Binay and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas deserve his support because their platforms fell short of his expectations.
“Hindi pa sapat eh,” the former President said of the three politikos’ plans for the country.
“Ang akin kasi, iba yung kanilang plataporma sa aking plataporma,” he told reporters at the sidelines of the Makabayan group’s national convention in Malate, Manila on Wednesday (Sept. 30).
Estrada said he would have wanted the presidential aspirants to make restoring peace and order a priority in light of the continued spate of criminality in the country.
“Ang aking prayoridad ay peace and order. There cannot be economic growth without peace and order,” he said.
The former President earlier admitted being torn as to who among Poe, Binay and Roxas he should support because of his ties with each of them. Poe is the adopted daughter of his bosom friend, the late actor Fernando Poe, Jr., while Binay is also close to him.
Estrada said he also thinks highly of Roxas because of the exceptional performance the administration standard bearer showed as Trade Secretary during his term as president.
