Erwin Tulfo apologizes for erroneous accusations vs. Lazatin

Broadcaster Erwin Tulfo has issued an apology after dragging the name of Pampanga Rep. Carmelo “Jon-Jon” Lazatin II in two separate road rage incidents last weekend.

Tulfo made the statement on Wednesday in his daily radio program “Tutok Tulfo” which was aired in Radyo Pilipinas.

But instead of totally admitting his erroneous accusations, the controversial anchor partly blamed the victim in the road rage in Angeles City, Pampanga for supposedly giving unclear statements.

In a text message to Politiko, Lazatin said it was the responsibility of Tulfo to personally fact-check the statement given by the road rage victim instead of just relying to some sources.

On Tuesday, Tulfo named Lazatin as the owner of a Toyota FJ Cruiser which was involved in two separate traffic altercation, adding it was his son who drove the vehicle during a road rage incident in Angeles City last weekend.

Lazatin countered Tulfo’s accusation, saying that his 16-year old son was not yet qualified to drive a vehicle since he doesn’t have a driver’s license. He added that the image of the FJ Cruiser driver who appeared on the dash cam video was already an adult man.

The Pampanga solon stressed that Tulfo is man enough to know what’s the right thing to do and its up for the broadcaster whether or not he will issue formal apology.

“He knows I deserved his public apology… call po ni Mr. Tulfo kung ano po dapat nyang gawin,” said Lazatin.
