Ex-Senate President Nene Pimentel passes away at 85

Former Senate President and PDP Laban founding chairman Aquilino “Nene” Q. Pimentel Jr. on Sunday passed away. He was 85.
Pimentel breathed his last around 5 a.m. of October 20, according to his eldest son and namesake, former Senate President Aquilino ”Koko” Pimentel III.
“Our beloved Tatay Nene has joined his Creator at 5 a.m. today October 20, 2019. We thank all those who have been a part of his life. We ask for prayers for the repose of Tatay Nene’s soul. Thank you to all,” said the Pimentel.
Pimentel have been staying at the intensive care unit of St. Luke’s Hospital in Bonifacio Global City since Monday due to pneumonia.
Pimentel is the founding chairman of President Rodrigo Duterte’s primary political entity, PDP Laban.
Born on December 11, 1933 in Claveria, Misamis Oriental, Pimentel was elected Senate President back in late 2000, at height of the impeachment trial of former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada.
