FAKE NEWS ALERT: Bayan Muna denies issuing statement vs. Ramon Ang
By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN
Bayan Muna party-list group has disowned a news report claiming that it has accused San Miguel Corporation President and CEO Ramon Ang of having an unsettled multi-billion debt before the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM).
In a statement, the group said that although they are in favor for an investigation over those businessmen with alleged onerous contracts entered under the Duterte administration, they didn’t specifically mention the name of Ang or any other business groups/personalities.
“No specific statement vs. RSA (Ang),” the statement read.
Bayan Muna was forced to issue a statement after series published articles appeared on Friday, claiming that their group insisted that Ang’s South Premiere Power Corp (SPPC) should pay its debt to PSALM which allegedly amounting to P19.75 billion back in December 2019.
Ang’s SPPC managed the 1,200-megawatt gas-fired Ilijan Power Plant in Batangas.
The progressive group stressed that they didn’t have any issued statement or press release against Mr. Ang.
Bayan Muna cautioned the public against those who are using the name of their group to malign any personality and organization for personal gains.
