Family, PDP-Laban ask for prayers as ‘very ill’ Nene Pimentel in ICU
The family of former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. is asking the public for prayers as he is “very ill” and currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital.
“Doctors and hospital staff are doing their best to help him. We ardently ask that you join us in prayer for his full and complete recovery,” Pimentel’s family said in a statement Monday (October 14).
PDP-Laban, the party of President Rodrigo Duterte, also asked for prayers for the recovery of its founder.
“We are humbly asking our friends and partymates in the @PDPLABAN to pray for the full recovery of our founder and Chairman Emeritus Tatay Nene Pimentel Jr who is currently in the ICU,” the party posted on its official Twitter account.
Pimentel’s son and namesake is PDP-Laban’s president while Duterte is the party chairman.
The 85-year-old politiko served as Senate President from 2000 to 2001. He was senator from 1987 to 1992, and from 1998 to 2010.
