Fariñas pulls out from Ilocos Norte gubernatorial race
By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN
Former House Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas has withdrawn his candidacy as provincial governor of Ilocos Norte in the May polls.
Fariñas went to the local Commission on Election office in Laoag City on Thursday to formalize his withdrawal from the gubernatorial race in the province.
The former House Majority Leader has yet to issue any statement after pulling out his candidacy less than two weeks before the May 13 midterm polls.
Fariñas, currently on his final term as legislator of the first district of Ilocos Norte, was supposed to face incumbent Provincial Board Member Matthew Marcos Manotoc, son of administration senatorial bet and incumbent Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos prior to his withdrawal.
