F*ck you! Locsin curses Philippine Star reporter after insulting Inquirer journo
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr.’s mouth can’t be shut even online.
Two days after cursing Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter Jhesset Enano for tweeting about President Rodrigo Duterte’s absence at the closing ceremony of the 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Thailand, Locsin tweeted an expletive at Philippine Star reporter Marc Jayson Cayabyab.
The Star reporter caught Locsin’s ire after he tweeted a provision from Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees in response to the Foreign Affairs Secretary’s refusal to apologize for cursing Enano.
Cayabyab tweeted: “RA 6713 Section 4: Professionalism-Public officials, employees shall perform, discharge their duties with the highest degree of excellence, professionalism, intelligence, skill; Responsiveness to the public-(They) shall extend prompt, courteous, adequate service to the public.”
Locsin fired back, “Fuck you.” The tweet has since been deleted.
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) and Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) have condemned Locsin’s act of cursing Enano.
FOCAP said Locsin, ironically a former journalist, should be civil even when he is criticizing a member of the media.
“[H]e has to speak with civility and within the bounds of basic human decency. Anything beyond that is an unacceptable display of arrogance and coercion,” FOCAP said.
