Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) chairman and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno on Monday (June 15) vowed to fight the cyberlibel conviction of Rappler Ressa and her former researcher-writer Reynaldo Santos Jr.
“The case is far from over,” read Diokno’s latest social media posts.
“May motion for reconsideration at appeal pa, kaya di pa tapos ang laban,” he explained.
This means lawyer Theodore Te, FLAG Metro Manila coordinator representing the accused in court, can still file a motion before the Manila court to reverse the conviction.
If denied, Te can still file appeals before the Court of Appeals (CA) and subsequently the Supreme Court (SC) if needed.
“Ituloy natin ang pagtutok sa kasong ito at patuloy tayo magsalita ng katotohanan sa mga nasa kapangyarihan,” Diokno declared.
