The bible of Philippine politics

Find out the hashtag that made Miriam rule Twitter one last time

The late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago trended nationally one last time Sunday afternoon, October 2 just as she was being interred at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.

Using the rather optimistic hashtag #MiriamShallReturn, fans of the lady politiko poured their final thoughts and messages for the one and only “Iron Lady” over at Twitter.

The hashtag received so much traction at past 4:30 p.m. that it even out-trended tweets about the marquee La Salle vs. Ateneo basketball game in the UAAP.

It was around that time that pick-up line savant Santiago was laid to rest beside her son, Alexander Robert who died in 2003.

Santiago, who almost won the presidency in 1992, passed away Thursday morning after battling Stage 4 lung cancer for two years. She was 71.

Whats the significance of the hashtag though? Perhaps one Twitter gave it the perfect explaination when he declared that Santiago “will return in the form of the youth”.

Santiago, despite her feisty temperament, has beem accommodating of young people, thus her popularity with the sector.

Here are some of the #MiriamShallReturn tweets that made the rounds Sunday:
