The Department of Health warned on Tuesday the public against consuming fish from Taal Lake amid the continuing eruption of the Taal Volcano.

Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana told reporters that fish from Taal Lake is not safe for human consumption, saying this may cause unpleasant symptoms.

“Unang-una po pinagbawal na. Definitely, meron po tayong mga advisory na lahat ng mga nanggagaling sa area ng Taal, Batangas, talaga wala nang bibili kasi hindi natin maaasahan yung safety ng ating mamamamayan,” according to her.

Laxamana noted that symptoms of fish poisoning include stomach pain and diarrhea.

“Kung ano ang mga symptoms na maranasan nung naka-ingest na galing diyan sa, baka patay na mga isda, magkakaroon yan ng mga sintomas gaya ng pagkakasakit ng tiyan, pagsusuka, at pagtatae,” she added.
