Flushed! Quezon calls Kiko a ‘class act’ after taking blame for Otso Diretso’s embarrassing defeat
“Direto sa inidoro or impiyerno” was how President Rodrigo Duterte and his allies described the senatorial slate cobbled put together by Liberal Party president Senator Kiko Pangilinan who was the campaign manager of this ill-fated group.
That is how they ended up on election day as zero of the eight candidates including household names Mar Roxas and Bam Aquino, were shut out of the top 12 senatorial vote tally.
This is why news that Pangilinan, husband of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, has resigned as LP president has become inevitable as Otso Diretso’s campaign strategy has not only bee savaged by Dieahard Duterte supporters but also by his own allies led by Vice Presdient Leni Robredo.
Even Leni Robredo admits LP’s campaign strategy an epic fail: Pag tinanong kung sino iyong 8, ‘di nila ma-identify!
Inquirer’s Marlo Ramos tweeted that Pangilina would resign as LP president effective June 30.

Pangilinan’s decision to promote collectively as a group despite having 75 percent of the slate as new names in politics and constantly attack Duterte at the peak of his popularity have doomed Otso Diretso’s chances in the polls.
Although rumors of Pangilinan’s resignation have yet to be confirmed, former Presidential Communication Undersecretary Manolo Quezon was quick to cheer his move.
A rare act of statesmanship.

That’s actually how party leaders are supposed to behave after an election. Take responsibility. A class act. https://t.co/iDdQTB0kQQ
