Supreme Court (SC) Justice Marvic Leonen on Wednesday (June 24) expressed gratitude to Joint Task Force COVID Shield commander Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar for ensuring that the bike lanes are clear of vehicles.
“Thank you General Eleazar,” read Leonen’s latest Twitter post.
“This is such a good initiative,” the magistrate pointed out.
With this, Leonen asked Eleazar to go on a bike ride with him in Metro Manila to inspect the bike lanes.
“I am sure many more cyclists will join us,” Leonen said.
Recently, Eleazar warned motorists in occupying the bike lanes.
“These [do] not only disrespect the bicycle riders but also put their lives at risk,” the police official had said.
Meanwhile, Eleazar said task force is coordinating with the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) and local units to clear designated bicycle lanes on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila and ensure these are not being used by motorists as parking spaces or means to avoid traffic.
