The House of Representatives will purchase COVID-19 vaccines made by US-based Novavax of Maryland.
HREP Congvax head and Bataan Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III said the House will purchase 60,000 doses of Novavax being manufactured by Serum Institute of India.
Garcia said the House will be spending P50 million for the vaccines that may arrive in July.
Novavax is among the vaccines available under the tripartite agreement being espoused by the national government.
Initially, the House is aiming to purchase AstraZeneca vaccines. However the bulk of the available supply were already taken by the private sector and local government units.
Aside from the regular employees included in the vaccination program are contractual employees, congressional staff, and employees of the Commission on Audit (COA), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), Landbank of the Philippines, Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), HRep Cooperative, Mutual Aid Association (MAA) and media assigned in the House.
