MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan on Monday said they would ask for an additional budget to fund the transfer of some of their offices.
Cascolan said they have found viable relocation sites for the headquarters of the PNP’s five Directorates for Integrated Police Operations (DIPOs), and permanent sites for the headquarters of the Maritime Group, the Logistics Support Service, the Special Action Force, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal/K9 Unit, the Highway Patrol Group and the Police Security and Protection Group.
“That’s why we asked the additional budget for this purpose. Second, we have trust receipts to support the establishment of these facilities, especially the DIPOs. They are slowly going out of their offices and going to their respective areas of responsibility so that they would be able to improve inter-coordination and cooperation with the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) with regard to counter-insurgency and at the same time personally supervise the establishment of their camps,” Cascolan said in a press briefing held at Camp Crame.
In the meantime, Cascolan said these offices would be staying in regions where there are extra spaces.
“At least we know where to get funds for this purpose. We need a quite big fund but we really need to do this. Our budget was actually approved already so from there, hopefully, we would already start the mass development of our DIPO camps. In Western Mindanao, there is a lot in Pagadian but we are looking, and Zamboanga kung saan sila ilalagay (where they would be placed). All DIPOs have already coordinated with LGUs in their areas,” he stressed.
