Friends forever: Miriam Santiago, Mayor Duterte sing each’s praises in presidential debate
There was no hostility between two presidential rivals, Senator Miriam Santiago and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, in the first-ever presidential debate in Cagayan de Oro.
The two candidates praised each other even recognizing their competence to lead the country in the next six years.
“Nobody has done very much against graft and corruption except Mayor Rody Duterte,” Santiago said.
Duterte, for his part, recognized Santiago as the only other qualified presidential contender in the May polls. He also dismissed speculations about the senator’s ailment, saying he does not see her passing away in the next 20 years.
