From cop, Cabinet member, senator to Manila mayor: Alfredo Lim lived a full life, daughter says
The family of the late Mayor Alfredo Lim is grateful for the messages of sympathies and support.
Lim, a former senator, Cabinet member and policeman, passed away last Saturday. He was 90. His death sparked an outpouring of grief and tribute from politikos, allies and supporters.
In a statement, Christy Lim-Raymundo said her father lived a “full life” as she remembered his dedicated service to the people especially the residents of Manila.
“We, the family members of Mayor Alfredo S. Lim, wish to thank all those who have supported and who condole with us in this our time of great grief,” she said.
“He has lived a full life, having served the country for almost six decades in various capacities beginning as a patrolman at the then Manila Police District until he became chief of the then Western Police District,” she said.
She said her father also served as National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) director, Interior and Local Government Secretary, and senator of the Republic. He spent most of his years in public service as mayor of Manila from 1992 to 1998 and again from 2007 to 2013.
The Lim family also extended thanks to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna “for all their love, help and support and for honouring Mayor Lim’s memory, specially his untarnished and dedicated service to the people of Manila.”
She also thanked his father’s PDP-Laban family, supporters and friends for their love, condolences and kind words.
“Thank you from all of us,” she said.
“We humbly ask you to continue praying for the eternal repose of his soul. God bless us all and may He always keep us safe,” Lim’s daughter added.
