Galante sa baon! Cayetano wants to give lawmakers up to P500K in fresh funds
House leaders led by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano want lawmakers to have as much as P500,000 in additional funds to spend on work-related expenses.
House accounts committee chairman Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino has filed Committee Resolution 137 authorizing the grant of an additional district operational budget for lawmakers.
The resolution seeks to grant lawmakers from Luzon and party-lists an additional budget of P468,670 yearly.
Other lawmakers in Luzon will be entitled to P480,920 while legislators from Visayss will receive P480,688.
Mindanao lawmakers will get P500,000.
Tolentino said the budget could be used on operational expenses such as transportation, supplies, utilities, courier services, subscription, communication and Internet, repairs and maintenance, representation, salaries of district staff and public affairs expenditures.
He justified the additional funds for lawmakers by saying the money was “necessary and indispensable” to address their constituents’ needs.
The resolution was signed by Tolentino, Cayetano, Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Minority Leader Benny Abante and Appropriations Committee Chair Rep. Isidro Ungab.
Under the resolution, lawmakers should support the liquidation of the additional budget with a certificate of monthly expenses.
