Galanteng tumulong! NGCP gives Duterte P1B to spend on COVID-19 crisis

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has donated P1 billion to the government to fund efforts against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a letter sent to Duterte Monday (March 30), NGCP president and chief executive officer Anthony Almeda said the P1 billion is aimed at helping medical frontliners in the COVID-19 crisis.

Almeda said P500 million will be donated in the form of goods and other medical equipment while Duterte can spend the remaining P500 million for any purpose necessary.

“NGCP will be coordinating with your team on the turnover of our donation. We will also continue to look for opportunities to support the government in battling this pandemic,” he said.

Almeda said NGCP’s donation was made on behalf of the company’s board of directors, particularly stockholders Henry Sy Jr., Roberto Coyiuto and the State Grid Corporation of China.
