Ganda siya! ‘Beauty’ is Nancy Binay’s strength

What makes Senator Nancy Binay a strong candidate? It’s beauty, she says.
Asked by reporters in a chance interview Monday (September 24) what her strength as a candidate is, a cheeky Binay said, “Beauty.”
Binay quickly backpedalled on her statement, saying in a more serious tone, “Hindi ko alam kung ano. Baka na-appreciate nila ‘yung trabaho na ginawa natin in the past few months. Ang hirap magsalita. Ayoko naman magbuhat ng sariling bangko.”
In the latest Pulse Asia survey, Binay climbed to ranks three to four from six to 12 in June. She ranked from four to six in March.
While she has consistently entered the “Magic 12” so far, Binay said she is still surprised at her rankings in the polls.
“Nagugulat nga ako kasi pasok tayo palagi doon sa top 12. Kasi nga alam niyo naman ‘yung pinagdaanan namin way back. In spite of all the allegations at paninira, pumapasok pa rin tayo sa top 12,” she said.
The Binay family faced numerous corruption allegations over supposedly overpriced government buildings in their bailiwick of Makati.
The Sandiganbayan charged in March Nancy’s father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, and brother, former Makati Mayor Junjun Binay with four counts each of violation of Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act or Republic Act No. 3019 and three counts each of falsification of public documents over the allegedly anomalous P1.3 billion Makati Science High School building.
Jejomar is also on trial over the allegedly overpriced P2.2 billion Makati parking building.
Despite this, the Binays are undeterred in their political plans for next year, with Nancy and Makati Mayor Abigail Binay gunning for re-election, and Jejomar eyeing a seat at the House of Representatives.
