Braving the coronavirus pandemic, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian traveled to Jolo, Sulu over the weekend to extend financial aid to the victims of twin bombings in August.
The senator provided financial aid worth P2 million to the blast victims, including injured government troops, while expressing support for the military in safeguarding the country.
“Went to Jolo, Sulu to provide assistance for the victims of the twin bombings. Grateful for the sacrifices made by our soldiers to serve our country and protect our people. The military will always have my support,” he wrote on Instagram.
In a press statement, families of nine uniformed personnel who died from the blast each received P50,000 from Gatchalian while the families of the six slain civilians got P 20,000 each.
Twenty-four injured cops and soldiers received P30,000 while the 54 injured civilians got P10,000.
The Army’s Joint Task Force Sulu was also given P 200,000 and 10,000 pieces of face masks from the senator.
