The Supreme Court (SC), sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), will hopefully issue a decision on the election protest of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. before the term of Vice President Leni Robredo ends, Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta said.
“The supreme court would like that all election cases should be terminated before the end of the term,” he said during a recent online Meet the Press event.
“That is the policy of the court,” he added.
Peralta has already issued this reminder to members of the PET.
“I told my members we have to resolve all those cases before the end of their term or better still before the filing of certificates of candidacy which I think is October 2021,” he said.
The chief justice boasted that he had resolved all of the cases when he was chairman of the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET).
“All the cases were resolved before I left in June 2019,” he said.
