Goons lang kulang! Venue of SEA Games football press briefing looks worse than a warehouse
Members of foreign and local media got the shock of their lives Monday (November 25) when they arrived at the press conference venue for the Malaysia vs. Myanmar football match of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The press conference area at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila looks like a warehouse where action scenes of a teleserye or television series would be shot.
The venue was bare, with hollow blocks visible all around. There was also no ceiling, so the steel foundation for the roof can be seen.
It was reportedly supposed to be the squash court for the SEA Games, but the construction wasn’t finished.
Indonesian sports editor A. Ainur Rohman called the venue “frustrating” in his tweet showing photos of the press conference area.
Spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo joked that the venue looked like the location where the climactic scenes of a teleserye would be shot.
“Venue ng football press con. Akala ko set ng huling dalawang linggo ng teleserye,” he tweeted.
Netizen @aldwindlr remarked: “‘di ba dito dinala si Maja Salvador para sa Wildflower.”
