MANILA, Philippines — North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza offered a P100,000 reward for the arrest of the perpetrator of a bomb attack that killed a student and hurt 16 others.
This after the unidentified suspect detonated an improvised explosive device near state-run University of Southern Mindanao and Kabacan Pilot Elementary School in Kabacan town late Sunday.
“I ask every Cotabateño not to succumb to fear but stand our ground against those who bring conflict and criminality in our province. Christians, Muslims and Lumads should not allow animosity to divide Cotabato,” she said.
The lady governor also condemned the attack, believing it was aimed at crippling her development efforts for North Cotabato.
“It is downright disappointing to see innocent lives affected by this cowardly act. The government invested so much resources for developmental programs to bring peace and order in North Cotabato. Unfortunately, there are those who want to sabotage all our sincere efforts,” she said.
