Government ‘doing the right thing’ in fight vs coronavirus – Palace

Malacañang thinks the government has been “very good” in its efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease in the country.
In an interview with The Source Wednesday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque reiterated that no country is prepared for a pandemic.
The Philippines, however, was able to reduce death rate due to Covid-19, he added.
“We’re doing the right thing. And I keep on emphasizing because everyone knows how accurate the UP forecast is,” the secretary said, noting that lockdowns have helped reduce the number of infections.
“We would have 1.5 to 3.5 million as early as June of this year, which did not happen. So that’s the context by which people should evaluate how well the government has responded to this challenge,” Roque said.
On Tuesday, the Department of Health reported 2,987 confirmed cases, bringing the total to 139,538. Recoveries reached 68,432 while the death toll stood at 2,312.
