Government sets new deadline for Canada to ship back its trash: Ang importante kukunin nila!

Malacanang suggests they would accept “slight delay” for Canada to take back its garbage that was illegally dumped to the Philippines several years ago.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier gave Canada a May 15 deadline to resolve its trash issue.
“Ang sabi ng DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) nun baka there might be a slight delay because of certain documentation. So kung slight delay lang naman eh, the President is a very reasonable man. What is important is they will take back their waste,” said Duterte’s spokesman Salvador Panelo in a media interview Wednesday.
Asked how long the delay should last, Panelo said: “Siguro reasonable delay. Baka naman one, two, three weeks. Ang importante kukunin na nila. Hindi kagaya nun na nangyayari. E di kung di naman sila binigyan ng deadline, hindi naman sila kikilos.”
The chief presidential legal counsel said they will take legal actions against the importer behind the illegally shipped trash.
“Lahat ng penalties tatapon natin sa kanila. Paimbestigahan natin kung ano ang violation diyan,” he stressed.
