The government is still studying the possibility of conducting mass testing, Malacañang said.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, in a virtual briefing this morning, stressed the need to identify and isolate people infected with the new coronavirus.

“Yung mass testing ay pinag-aaralan po ng mabuti yun. Unang-una, kailangan natin siyempre yung testing kits na siguradong lalabas dun kung positive o negative. Ang DOH (Department of Health) maingat sila na pinag-aaralan ng mabuti, merong mga bagong dumating na testing kits, in 15 mins malalaman mo kung positive o negative, pero hindi pa po sila nakakasigurado dun,” according to Panelo.

“Talagang maganda malaman natin kung ano sa populasyon natin ang infected na at yung mga nahawaan o meron mga sintomas na may virus sapagkat kung malaman po natin yun, maaari na po tayong gumawa ng mga kaparaanan, kalakaran kung saan puwede natin [silang] i-isolate,” he added.

As of Monday afternoon, the Philippines reported a total of 3,660 cases of coronavirus, with 163 deaths and 73 recoveries.
