Gov’t has ‘airtight’ case vs Maynilad, Manila Water – Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday said he has an “airtight” case against Maynilad and Manila Water, whom he accused of having onerous agreements with the government.
The agreements entered into with both water companies mirror provisions of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, said Duterte in a speech delivered in Malacañang Tuesday.
“I will feel the pulse of the people. ‘Pag sinabi nila, “Mayor, hiritan mo,” then I’ll file economic sabotage. My case is airtight. Mismo ‘yung contract, ang p***** i** niya, kung iharap mo doon sa Anti-Graft Law, it mirrors — it is a mirror of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Law, Republic Act 3019,” the President said.
Duterte asserted that he wanted to talk with the officials of Maynilad and Manila Water, as well as the government lawyers who crafted the contract that put the government at a disadvantage.
“Isa-isahin ko sila. Ang abugado ng mga p***** i** gumawa ng kontrata. Sino ‘yung mga opisyal ng MWSS noon? Tanungin ko sila. What the f*** did you do and screwed the country? Ngayon, ‘pag hindi ako ma-satisfy, I will expropriate everything. Kunin ko lahat.
“Magdemanda ka nang magdemanda. Tutal dalawang taon lang naman tapos wala na ako,” he said.
The Permanent Court Arbitration in Singapore recently ordered the national government to pay Maynilad and Manila Water P11 billion in total claims due to delayed rate hike implementation.
