The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has opened applications for a seat at the Court of Appeals (CA) which was vacated by upon the retirement justice Romeo Barza last August 2.
The JBC announced that interested applicants have until December 9 to submit their applications and the required documents.
“The date of actual receipt by the JBC of the complete documentary requirements shall be deemed as the date of filing,” the JBC said.
“The qualification of applicants shall be reckoned as of the said deadline for filing of applications,” it added.
Aside from the seat vacated by Barza, the JBC is also seeking to fill eight other seats at the CA with 67 candidates vying for the positions.
Among the eight empty seats, four were vacated upon the appointments of Justices Ramon Paul Hernando, Rosmari Carrandang, Henri Jean Paul Inting and Amy Lazaro-Javier to the Supreme Court.
While the rest were vacated by retired CA justices Normandie Pizarro, Carmelita Manahan and Sesinando Villon.
