Guevarra: allow bullies to become better persons

Having met bullies during his childhood, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra to give child bullies a chance to become better persons.

“I know of many bullies in my childhood who later became good and virtuous men, some of them leaders in lofty positions,” cited Guevarra on Saturday (Dec. 22).

The Secretary made the statement “in the light of the cruel bashing going on in the net” of a junior high school student of the Ateneo de Manila University who alleged bullied a fellow student.

Guevarra reminded “we are dealing with young adolescent boys who have a long, long way to grow and become responsible and useful human beings.”

“This is something for the Ateneo and the parents of their students to deal with,” said Guevarra who himself is an alumnus and had been a law professor of Ateneo.

“Let us show some kindness and understanding,” he urged.
