Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday (May 21) said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) could be tapped to in the manhunt against foreigners who sought treatment at an illegal medical facility in Pampanga for the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19).
“I will let the NBI step in if the manhunt encounters rough sailing,” he assured.
Guevarra on Wednesday (May 20) already directed the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to give assistance to the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the local government in tracking the infected foreigners.
Authorities raided the illegal medical facility inside a villa of the Fontana Resort and Convention Center last Tuesday (May 19) which was allegedly treating Chinese nationals infected with COVID-19.

“I think the CIDG and the BI are coordinating well enough,” Guevarra said.
“After all, two people had already been apprehended by the police, and they would probably provide further info as to the rest of the persons involved,” he noted.
