Guevarra mum on results of DOJ’s study on ending VFA: Babasahin muna ni Duterte!
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Saturday (Jan. 25) that he will give to President Rodrigo Duterte this Monday (Jan. 27) his study on the termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement.
“We’ll submit to the President on Monday,” he told reporters.
However, Guevarra said he will leave it to Duterte to reveal the contents of the memo from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“We can’t say anything till after he has read it,” he said.
The Secretary earlier said Malacanang tasked the DOJ to conduct the study on the proper termination of the VFA the country has with the United States.
Malacanang Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President made the decision to terminate the VFA after having had enough of American interference including calls to free detained Sen. Leila De Lima.
Recently, the US canceled the 10-year visa of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa who believes was made due to his involvement in the drug war.
Panelo said the President is also turning down the invitation to participate inthe US-ASEAN Summit in Las Vegas.
