Guevarra: NBI ready to help in PNP’s probe of Ozamiz judge’s slay
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has assured the readiness of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in hunting down the killers of Ozamis City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Edmundo Pintac.
On the other, Guevarra said the Philippine National Police (PNP) should be allowed to conduct the investigation of the killing which took place at about 4:20 p.m. Monday in Purok 2-B, Barangay Banadero in Ozamiz City while on his way home.
“We’ll let PNP take on the investigation muna. Standby ang NBI (The NBI will be on standby),” he said on Tuesday (Oct. 9).
At the moment, police has admitted they have found no motive yet behind the killing of the judge.
Pintac is handling the drug cases against Ozamis City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and her brother Reynaldo Jr.
The magistrate had already turned down in 2017 the request of the Parojinog siblings to attend the funeral of their parents who were killed in illegal drugs operations conducted by the PNP.
