Guevarra to check Senate’s request for Philhealth’s whistleblowers’ protection
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has assured that he will look into the recommendations of the Senate to include the whistleblowers of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
“We are awaiting the Senate’s formal request,” he said on Wednesday (Aug. 12).
“We shall immediately evaluate upon receipt,” he added.
Those the Senate recommended to be included in the WPP are former PhilHealth anti-fraud officer Thorsson Keith, PhilHealth board member Alejandro Cabading, and former head executive assistant Etrobal Laborte.
The three have testified during the Senate hearings concerning the alleged corrupt activities taking place at PhilHealth and have sought protection due to threats to their lives.
