Guevarra to consult with Sandiganbayan on Napoles’ extradition to US
Since several members are facing charges in the Philippines, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he will consult with the Sandiganbayan regarding possible extradition request of the US government.
“The options under the Philippine-US (extradition) treaty will be evaluated by the DOJ when an actual request is made by the US government,” he said.
“We will consult with the Sandiganbayan on this,” he assured.
The US government said it will seek the extradition of those indicted to the US to money laundering charges involving $20-million suspected to have been come from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
Those who were named in the US indictment are alleged PDAF scam queen Janet Lim Napoles; her brother Reynald Luy Lim; his wife Ana Marie; and the Napoles children Jo Christine, James Christopher and Jeane Christine.
However, Napoles who is detained in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City and her two children, Jo and James, have pending charges before the Sandiganbayan concerning the PDAF scam.
