Senator Loren Legarda has pushed to ban media from conducting interviews on the Senate floor in the session hall.

Sources said Legarda brought up the matter during a caucus attended by all senators last Tuesday (July 24).

Legarda, a former journalist, reportedly said media interviews kept senators from “bonding,” which they can only do during their idle time before the Senate session is opened. Other senators sided with her.

Beginning Monday (July 30), journalists covering the Senate would only be able to conduct interviews in the designated ambush area outside of the session hall and from the railings of the session hall.
