Gustong solohin! Balutan reveals Atong Ang’s P200-M bribe try for STL control
Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office General Manager Alexander Balutan has accused gambling lord Charlie “Atong” Ang of trying to bribe him with P200 million monthly in exchange for controlling small-town lottert (STL) operations nationwide.
Balutan made the revelation Tuesday (January 30) during the hearing of the House committee on games and amusement on the controversies involving the PCSO.
He said Ang offered him the bribe when they met in September 2016 with PCSO board member Sandra Cam.
After refusing Ang’s offer, Balutan said he told Duterte about the incident.
The President reportedly told Balutan:
“Don’t bend your rules. Just follow your rules. Just follow your rules, even if it involves my own son.”
Cam, who was at the hearing, denied Ang tried to bribe Balutan.
“Atong Ang and President Duterte are friends. The P200 million Atong was talking about was the total amount of STL revenues on a daily basis,” she said.
Ang earlier said he was asked by Duterte’s aide Bong Go to meet with Balutan and then-PCSO chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz to help clean up the agency.
