Loyal Kapamilya viewers won’t get to watch TV Patrol when ABS-CBN officially returns to free television on October 10.
A statement released by ABS-CBN Wednesday (October 7) listed teleseryes, movies and live entertainment shows as the programs that will be broadcast on the newly rebranded A2Z Channel 11.
The programs include the hit teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano,” the musical variety show, “ASAP Natin ‘To,” and “It’s Showtime.”
ABS-CBN said educational and public service programs will also be airing on A2Z Channel 11, but there was no mention of TV Patrol and other newscasts.
The absence of news programs on A2Z is reportedly part of ABS-CBN’s low-key initiative to ease back into free TV. The Lopez-owned network has been struggling to stay afloat following the House of Representatives’ denial of its franchise bid last July.
ABS-CBN’s desire to keep its operations “low-key” was also said to be the reason why it replaced Karen Davila with the more conservative Henry Omaga Diaz as the permanent anchor in TV Patrol following Ted Failon’s departure.
ZOE TV is owned by Jesus is Lord Church founder Bro. Eddie Villanueva, who is allied with President Rodrigo Duterte.
