Harder, better, stronger: New Faculty Center set to rise in UP Diliman

A new Faculty Center (FC) will soon rise in the University of the Philippines Diliman, three years after the iconic structure was ravaged by fire.

UP’s Facebook page shared an architect’s perspective of the new FC on Friday (January 25), the day of its groundbreaking.

According to a press release from UP, the new FC will feature a nine-level faculty building, a six-level parking building, a single story hall, and an amphitheater.

National Artist Napoleon Abueva’s sculpture, “Siyam na Diwata ng Sining,” which was erected in front of the old FC, will remain part of the new building.

UP President Danilo Concepcion said construction of the P675-million new FC is expected to be finished by November next year.
