Hari ng sablay! Health expert: DOH failing big time in COVID-19 response under Duque
The Department of Health (DOH) is doing a dismal job containing the COVID-19 crisis with Secretary Francisco Duque III at its helm, physician and health expert Tony Leachon said.
In a Facebook post Saturday (June 13), Leachon shared grim statistics which showed DOH “has lost focus in everything.”
The latest data released by DOH Saturday showed 504 “fresh” COVID-19 cases in the country, with 204 of them recorded in the National Capitala Region.
There were also 22 reported deaths, the highest in more than a month, though Leachon said some reports may have been delayed.
The DOH also recorded 252 recoveries after the agency changed its protocol.
Leachon said DOH’s lack of focus covers “risk communication, priorities, data management and execution of all plans.”
Duque has come under fire over the DOH’s sloppy response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the curve yet to flatten three months since a Luzon-wide lockdown was declared by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Despite calls for his resignation, Duque said he will remain as Health Secretary since he serves at the pleasure of the President.
