Hi tech na rin! PH airports to have advanced info on arriving passengers soon
The Philippines will soon join other countries like the United States in having its own Advance Passenger Information System (APIS), said Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete.
“Target date for its full operationalization is by next week (before the end of the month),” said Perete who has supervision over the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Once in place, the BI already knows who are arriving to the Philippines even before they land which will hopefully cut down the queues at the immigration counters.
“The system requirements for APIS have already been procured by BI (hardware, software, and even the manpower requirement engaged),” Perete said.
“BI is now concluding discussion with the different airlines for the protocols and logistical arrangements for the Advanced Passenger Information System to be fully operational,” he added.
