With Rep. Alan Cayetano finally out of the picture, House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco has found a partner to advance the administration’s legislative agenda.

Velasco has teamed up with Majority Leader Martin Romualdez in shepherding the passage of key legislative proposals. The two congressional leaders were spotted busy discussing a government’s pandemic response based on a photo shared online.

“Earlier today, House Speaker Lord Alan Velasco and I had a very fruitful meeting. We tackled the presentation prepared by the Department of Finance (DOF) and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Romualdez said in an Instagram post.

With much remains to be done, Romualdez said they would not stop in helping uplift the lives of Filipinos especially during the pandemic.

“Marami pang kailangang trabahuhin para tuluyan tayong makabangon mula sa pandemya, kaya asahan niyo pong hindi kami titigil in doing our part to help improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos,” he said.

In the photo, Velasco and Romualdez were making a fist bump while discussing legislative work at the office. The two lawmakers were also wearing black masks during their meeting as a precaution against the coronavirus.
