Hindi pamumulitika ang travel ban sa China! Pangilinan says health of Filipinos should be a priority
Senator Francis Pangilinan has dispelled allegations that he is politicizing the coronavirus issue by seeking a travel ban on China over the coronavirus outbreak.
Pangilinan, in a Facebook post, said he merely reminded the administration to prioritize the health of Filipinos from the threat of the coronavirus that broke out in China. He said placing the interest of China before the Filipino nation was actually a form of politicking.
“HINDI PAMUMULITIKA ANG PANAWAGAN NA IPATUPAD ANG TOTAL TRAVEL BAN,” he said.
“Panawagan ito na kumilos ang Administrasyon at unahin na iligtas ang ating mga kababayan sa kapahamakan at ipatupad ang total travel ban mula sa China. Ang pamumulitika ay yung inuuna ang China at interes nito bago ang interes ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Mocha Uson earlier scored Pangilinan for politicizing the coronavirus issue, saying it was best to just work together to combat the spread of the virus. Pangilinan had criticized the government’s initial reluctance to impose a travel ban on visitors from China, saying these travelers should instead go straight to the Palace.
