Anakalusugan Party-list Rep. Mike Defensor said there were still forces trying to resist the 1521 term-sharing deal revived by President Rodrigo Duterte between Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and Mariduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.

“There are still movements,” said Defensor.

Defensor said that during the close-door caucus of the Party-list Coalition Foundation, Inc. (PCFI), invitation to join the so-called “Duterte Coalition” continued to circulate especially those from party-list identified with the “Davao Group” even though Duterte already insisted to proceed with the term-sharing between his two allies.

“Doon sa Party-list Coalition caucus, there were invitation still for the Duterte Coalition. It’s still an ongoing thing,” said Defensor.

“I don’t think I am privy to divulge their names, but they are connected to Davao Group. Those who signed in the Duterte Coalition Manifesto,” he added.

The Duterte Coalition last week was formed by members of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) party led by his brother, 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte and 2nd district Rep. Isidro Ungab which sought to unite all allies of the Duterte administration in the House of Representatives.

The group were against the term-sharing proposal for the House Speaker which was successfully lobbied for by supporters of Cayetano.

On Tuesday, the 54-man PCFI decided to adhere the “President’s choice” for the House leadership “for now.”
