Hula who?! Lacson won’t mention lawmakers with ‘pork’: Lalabas din kung anong distrito
Tired from quarreling with congressmen over the alleged illegal insertions in the general appropriations bill (GAB) every year, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Thursday (November 14) he will refrain from mentioning which lawmaker has pork barrel funds under the proposed P4.1-trillion national budget for 2020.
Lacson said he will “stick to issues” when he reveals the alleged questionable items in the 2020 GAB, which is currently being discussed in the Senate.
“I try to be blind na lang kung saan. Basta stick to issues. Kung may issue isang proyekto, [I’ll] bring it out without minding sino ang congressman dito,” he said when asked if he knows which congressman has pork barrel funds.
“Lagi akong inaaway ng House ‘pag may budget deliberation. And I am tired of quarreling with them. It consumes a lot of my energy. Mas maganda ang bulag na tayo. Lalabas din kung anong district and we don’t even care to find out sino congressman dyan,” Lacson said.
The senator pointed out during plenary debates that there were several “irregular” items in the Department of Public Works and Highways’ proposed P530-billion budget for next year.
He said there were items that DPWH were clueless about, or had vague descriptions.
Lacson cited a project involving Kennon Road in Baguio City as an example of an entry with a vague description in DPWH’s budget.
“‘Pag sinabi mong P507 million tapos ang description lang Kennon Road, anong gagawin sa Kennon Road? Anong part ng Kennon Road? Wala, kasi Kennon Road lang,” he said.
Lacson said he can’t say if the lawmaker or DPWH should be held accountable for the questionable project since it was included in the National Expenditure Program submitted by Malacañang to Congress.
