I don’t give a damn! Guevarra offended by US law banning De Lima’s jailers
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Monday (Dec. 23) said he is offended with the United States decision to ban from entry those behind the incarceration of Senator Leila De Lima.
“As a Filipino like you, I feel so offended,” said Guevarra in response to US President Donald Trump’s decision to sign the US 2020 budget which includes provisions to ban those behind De Lima’s detention based on drug charges against her.
The Secretary even pointed out he doesn’t give a damn if he is even included in the list.
The list included US are President Rodrigo Duterte, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, former Presidential Communications Operations Office official Mocha Uson, Sass Rogando Sasot, and RJ Nieto, former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, former Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Solicitor General Jose Calida, Public Attorneys Office chief Persida Acosta, Sandra Cam, Dante Jimenez, Representatives Rey Umali and Rudy Fariñas.
Meanwhile, Guevarra stopped from further making anymore comments and believes Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddyboy Locsin should be the one doing it.
“I will leave it to our foreign affairs secretary to comment on this development,” he said.
“This issue is much bigger than the prosecution of Senator De Lima on drug charges under Philippine laws. Yhis involves issues of sovereignty and non-interference among co-equal nations,” he explained.
