Ibang klaseng alaga! Piers Morgan lauds Pinoy nurses in UK
British journalist Piers Morgan was all praises for Filipino nurses in the United Kingdom, saying they’re the country’s “unsung heroes” in the country’s fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Morgan even mentioned a number of Filipino nurses’ names on Tuesday’s (April 7) telecast of Good Morning Britain.
“Amazing number of Filipinos working in NHS (National Health Service), are unsung heroes. Thank you to all the Filipinos who are here, doing all this,” he said.
Morgan said Filipinos are proof that immigrants comprise an “extraordinary workforce” in the UK.
“It’s worth bearing in mind when we talk about immigrants in this country, these are the immigrants currently saving people’s lives. Coming here and actually enriching our country and doing an amazing job,” he said.
Of the estimated 200,000 Filipinos living in the UK, around 21,000 are health workers at NHS and private hospitals, according to Philippine Ambassador to the UK Antoni Lagdameo.
